— Ах, дурак, дурак! размышлял Чичиков. «Он за то, чтобы все бросить и мотать своих сыновей. А между тем это хорошее имение, и видно, что у местных крестьян все хорошо, и семья тоже в достатке. С другой стороны, как только эти ребята начнут свое образование в ресторанах и театрах, дьявол унесет с собой каждую крупицу их имущества. Что касается меня, то я не мог бы желать ничего лучшего, чем эта спокойная жизнь в деревне».

«Ты думаешь про себя: «Этот дурак пиетух пригласил меня к обеду, а я ни кусочка обеда не вижу». Но подождите немного. Скоро оно будет готово, потому что оно готовится так же быстро, как девица, остриженная наголо, заплетает себе новую косу.

" Here comes Platon Mikhalitch , father ! " exclaimed Aleksasha , who had been peeping out of the window .
