A hunter saw a fox in the forest and ran after it.

Охотник увидел лису в лесу и побежал за ним.

The hunter came nearer and nearer.

Охотник подошел ближе и ближе.

Then the fox saw a woodman and asked the man to hide him under some trees that were lying on the ground.

Затем лиса увидел лесного человека и попросил человека спрятать его под деревьями, которые лежали на земле.

The woodman did so.

Вудман сделал это.

Then the hunter came up to the woodman and asked: 'Have you seen a fox near here?

Затем охотник подошел к лесному человеку и спросил: «Вы видели лису рядом здесь?

It was running this way.' 'No, I haven't,' answered the woodman, but he pointed with his hand at the trees and so showed the hunter where the fox was.

Это было так. «Нет, я не имел», - ответил The Woodman, но он указал рукой на деревья и показал охотника, где находился лиса.

The hunter did not see the woodman's hand and went on his way. Then the fox came out from under the trees.

Охотник не видел руки Вудмана и пошел на своем пути. Затем лиса вышла из -под деревьев.

He was running away when the woodman stopped him. 'Aren't you going to thank me?

Он убегал, когда лесной человек остановил его. «Разве ты не собираешься поблагодарить меня?

' he asked. 'No,' said the fox, 'you helped me with your words but were ready to kill me with your hand.'

» он спросил. «Нет, - сказал лиса, - ты помог мне своими словами, но были готовы убить меня своей рукой».
