Muzhdei is a sauce of national Moldavian and Romanian cuisine with a persistent garlic-sizzling aftertaste. Most often it is consumed with hominy, and is also served with poultry and other types of meat, dipped bread in it, and seasoned fish and vegetables. Not a single dish cooked on a grater, the Moldavian version of a grill, is complete without it. The sauce contains the most common ingredients: garlic, salt and any broth. The “Muzhdei” sauce with nuts is ideal for fish dishes.
