Pastila is a traditional Russian sweet made from fruit, berry puree or juice. The first mention of marshmallow dates back to 1578 during the time of Ivan the Terrible. According to legend, pastila was prepared by the residents of Kolomna. Initially, it was prepared exclusively from Antonov apples, since at that time there were about 500 apple orchards in Kolomna. The dish was prepared in ovens, and everyone loved pastila: from the nobility to ordinary peasants.
